Stripe Engineer to Design Student, Meet Anchor Coworking Member, Matthew Schmitz

From Tech Engineering to Design Mastery: A Journey of Transformation at Anchor Co-Working

Anchor CoWorking Space is not just about shared desks and high-speed internet; it's a hub for innovation, collaboration, and transformation. This month, we're excited to put the spotlight on one of our members who embodies these qualities - Matthew Schmitz. From working as an engineer at Stripe to preparing for his Masters in Design at Berkeley, Matthew's journey is truly inspiring.

Matthew Schmitz was part of the engineering team at Stripe, one of the leading fintech companies reshaping the way businesses handle payments online. But despite a promising career in tech, he felt an urge for a change - a leap into the vast field of design. That's when he decided to leave Stripe and get ready to start his Masters at Berkeley this fall.

In this era where everything is constantly evolving, Matthew embodies the spirit of adaptability. His story is a vivid example that it's never too late to pivot your career path and explore new arenas. He's now immersing himself in design and nurturing some side projects that we can't wait to see.

But what does Matthew do when he's not busy with his projects or preparing for his upcoming course? He might be found relishing his favorite food, watermelon, or now he's on a new kick for zucchini. When he's not in his professional or foodie mode, you'd most likely find Matthew in the water. A swimming enthusiast, Matthew finds his 'happy place' in the water, demonstrating that work-life balance is not just a buzzword for him.

Matthew's journey is as fascinating as it is unconventional.  Should his life be turned into a Hollywood movie, Matthew's choice for the lead role would be the one and only Gronk.

Before joining Anchor, Matthew worked from home, which he candidly admits was "so miserable." The shift to our coworking space has been transformative for him, improving not just his productivity but also his mental health. He appreciates the welcoming atmosphere created by our community managers, Bobby and John, and the ease of commuting to Anchor.

Matthew's story is a testament to Anchor CoWorking's mission - to provide an environment that fosters personal growth and career evolution. We're more than just a workspace; we're a community of innovators like Matthew, who redefine the boundaries of their fields every day.

Through this member spotlight, we want to inspire more professionals to embark on their own journeys of transformation and discovery. Whether you're looking for a coworking space in San Francisco or seeking a thriving community of innovators, Anchor CoWorking is ready to welcome you aboard!
